How Tuscany found its way to Kenosha

Chef and owner, Guglielmo Ianni, has been preparing authentic Northern Italian cuisine right here in the Kenosha area since he moved to Wisconsin over 40 years ago.

“My mother, Adalgisa, gave me the inspiration to pursue culinary talents, which led me to study in Italy and compile Mama’s recipes.”

In 1991, Guglielmo moved his family and took his brand of Italian cooking to the Emerald Coast of Florida, where he opened several successful restaurants. Along with traditional Italian favorites and gourmet pizzas, Guglielmo created new dishes based on fresh seafood from the Gulf Coast of Florida. His daughter, Theresa, trained with Guglielmo and they consulted on recipes together.

“Now, I am passing my talents on to the third generation, my daughter Theresa, continuing the Ianni family traditions of preparing authentic Italian cuisine for you to enjoy.”

Theresa took a break from the family business to serve as an Executive Chef at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida for 3 years. This gave Theresa a new, outside-of-the-box perspective and set of skills that she then brought with her when she returned to the family restaurant business,

“It’s all about unity. You must treat your people, your staff, very well. They are what makes this establishment. We have to work as a team. And as an owner, you can’t run the show from behind the scenes, you have to be front and center, talking with your people and your customers, really get to know everyone.”

Chef Theresa returned to Kenosha and partnered her husband Anthony Robinson and Guglielmo at Tuscany Bistro. Along with the famous Italian fare Tuscany has become known for, she infused her creative talents to prepare exciting new specials for your dining enjoyment. She also introduced a new bar menu and catering to the location, and frequently experiments with new dishes and ingredients to keep the menu offerings fresh for Tuscany regulars and newcomers alike.

“When you run a restaurant, you must have passion first and foremost. Not just passionate about what you serve, but who you serve, and the people who help you do it.”

Today, Tuscany Bistro Bar & Grill is the Kenosha community’s go-to spot to indulge in a favorite Italian dish, a charming place to celebrate special occasions, big or small, a convenient location for a business lunch between Milwaukee and Chicago, and a perfect setting for a cozy date night or intimate dinner with friends and family. All because of the passion that Chef Theresa and her staff bring to every diner’s experience.

For all of our dishes, we only use the freshest ingredients, choice meats, fresh seafood, and garden vegetables. We are fine dining at its best, but we consider the restaurant to be casual, yet comfortable, with a quaint touch of Italy. We want you to feel like part of our family.”

Passion

When we open our doors to our community, when we nourish you with a home-cooked meal, passion has to drive every decision, every conversation, every recipe, and every day. We love what we do at Tuscany, but more than that, we love who we serve, how we serve you, and how we serve one another.

When you step into our home, you’re home. You should expect nothing short of excellence whether you’re dining with us, carrying out a meal for you and your family, or providing food for your party, your staff, or your colleagues. We pride ourselves on the finest ingredients and superior customer service. If you’re less than satisfied, we’ll strive to make it right.

Authenticity

Every dish we create at Tuscany is steeped in Northern Italian family tradition. Three generations have worked together to bring you authentic ingredients — tomatoes from Italy, seafood from the Gulf of the Florida Coast, and even herbs and produce from our own community — and authentic flavors that you’ll crave and come back to time and time again.

Consistency

We know the key to earning your trust and continued patronage is consistency: knowing exactly what to expect when you walk through our doors and the moment you take the first bite of your favorite dish. If you try new things, and if you rave to your friends and family and colleagues, that means we’ve exceeded your expectations.

They remembered me from the first time I came in and have treated me better than family ever since.  Food and service are both to die for right down to my coffee and dessert!  Many thanks, Tuscany!”
